🌱 Acts of Peace Food Ministry
Nourishing Bodies. Restoring Hope. Transforming Lives.
The Acts of Peace Food Ministry at Montgomery First Seventh-day Adventist Church is more than a food program—it is a movement of compassion, dignity, and healing.
Rooted in Christ’s ministry of service, Acts of Peace exists to meet the immediate needs of families while creating pathways toward long-term health and stability. Through intentional outreach, partnerships, and love in action, we are helping individuals and families experience both physical nourishment and spiritual encouragement.
Produce Prescription Program
Where Health Meets Access
The Produce Prescription Program is a life-changing initiative designed to improve health outcomes by increasing access to fresh, nutritious foods.
Through this program, eligible participants receive:
- 🛒 Produce prescriptions in partnership with The Wellness Coalition, Heart of Alabama Food Bank, and Baptist Healthcare Foundation (Montgomery Family Medical Residency Program) to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for patients enrolled in the program.
- 🤝 Guided shopping experiences at local grocery stores
- 📚 Nutrition education and support
- ❤️ Encouragement and community connection
This approach ensures that families don’t just receive food—they gain the confidence, knowledge, and support to make healthier choices every day.
What Makes This Program Different?
Unlike traditional food assistance programs, Acts of Peace focuses on dignity-centered care and hands-on support.
We walk alongside participants by:
- Helping with catered groceries that support and improve health
- Teaching practical ways to select and prepare healthy foods
- Creating a welcoming, judgment-free environment
- Building lasting relationships rooted in trust and compassion
This is not just about food—it’s about empowerment.
Why It Matters
Many families in our community face barriers such as:
- Limited access to fresh, affordable foods
- Transportation challenges
- Increased risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease
The Produce Prescription Program helps bridge the gap between:
👉 What doctors recommend
👉 What families can realistically access
By doing so, we are actively working to improve:
- Nutrition security
- Chronic disease prevention
- Overall quality of life
Impact in Action
Through Acts of Peace, lives are being transformed:
- Families are gaining access to healthier foods
- Participants are building confidence in making better choices
- Community partnerships are growing stronger
- Individuals are experiencing hope, support, and belonging
